Shepherd’s Dream Woolbed Materials

Shepherd’s Dream is committed to using the highest quality raw materials available. Most of our Wool Bed materials are grown and produced in the United States and are either certified organic or free of harmful, toxic chemicals.

We believe that it is important, where we can, to support local farmers and businesses in order to strengthen small, green industry practices as well as to decrease our dependence on fossil fuels. We are happy to offer these materials directly to our customers, so that you can create your own bedding, crafts and toys. Everyone deserves the opportunity to utilize materials that are healthy for the planet and for us.

Eco Wool

Eco Wool Batting

All of our products are filled entirely with our premium Eco Wool batting. Eco Wool is entirely derived from flocks of sheep raised following specific criteria to ensure top quality, chemical free wool. Our Pacific Northwest raised Eco Wool batting is produced at the Woolgatherer Carding Mill, located down the road from Shepherd’s Dream US, in Montague, California.

Is Eco Wool Organic?

This is a question many people ask. Eco Wool is not certified organic. At this time very little organic wool is available on the market; almost no organic wool is grown in the United States. We find that Eco Wool is actually cleaner and of higher quality than the organic wool currently available. Eco Wool is produced to the highest standards; some of these standards are beyond those specified for organic materials. We will continue to observe the progress of certified organic wool batting, but in the meantime we prefer Eco Wool.

Wool Melton Textile

Wool Melton Textile

The Shepherd’s Dream all wool mattress is encased with beautiful wool Melton textile produced in North America. The elimination of harsh chemicals in processing allows this fabric to be soft, durable and long lasting. Ideal for blankets and mattress protectors, this 80” wide fabric is available to purchase by the yard.

Our washable wool mattress protectors are made with this same highly absorbent Melton.

Organic Cotton

Organic Cotton Sateen

This silky smooth fabric is used for our comforters and washable pillow cases. Unlike our other wool materials, this fabric is grown and produced in India and then finished in the USA.

It is difficult to find organic cotton grown in the USA that matches our standards for cleanliness. Although the origin of this fabric is far from home, we are still impressed and very satisfied with the quality and consistency. This fabric has a 233 thread count, 113” width and is ideal for sheeting, comforters and clothing. Available by the yard.

Organic Cotton Twill

This durable fabric is used as the encasement material for our mattress toppers and pillows. Ivory colored and soft to the touch, this fabric is also grown and produced in India.

We purchase our Organic Cotton fabrics from a company in the USA who has this fabric shipped back to the USA for the finishing steps of production to ensure the highest quality finished goods. This fabric has a 111 thread count, 90” width and is ideal for crafting that requires a more durable and breath able fabric. Available to purchase by the yard.

Fabric Strips

Scraps for Craft

We have ample amount of fabric and batting scraps that are left over upon completing each item that we produce.
We hope to find time in the near future to come up with some useful products that would utilize these beautiful scraps, but currently our product line takes up all of our time. There are many items that could be made out of these materials, such as quilts, woven rugs, dolls, purses and clothing.

For more information on our scrap materials, please call our office and we will work out a great deal for you!
